The youth is driven by all sorts of motivations that revolve around them. In today’s climate, it is only beneficial to strengthen their willpower to become world changers. Let me share my journey as a youth volunteer and how it helped me empower myself to leave an impact and make a change.
My journey into youth volunteering began in 2021 with an international community outreach program. Initially, I was drawn by the idea of making a difference and gaining some experience outside the classroom. The project involved working with youth and volunteering to support underprivileged students. We are working hard by seeking donations and sponsors from individual donors and non-governmental organizations. We made sure the designated schools were ready for the new academic year by providing supplies, including books, pencils, backpacks, and other goods, along with refreshments, at the end of the day. We also painted the high school wall to give it a brand-new appearance. We were thrilled that I could participate in the initiative, serve society in whatever way I could, and be profoundly grateful for the opportunities I have had to make a difference in the lives of young people.
One key takeaway from my experience is that it has reinforced my belief in the potential of every young person and the impact of collective effort in making change for the betterment of our society.
International Youth Day is a day to celebrate and acknowledge the potential, contributions, difficulties, and voices of youth across the world. It plays an important role in bringing awareness to issues that impact young people, encouraging their involvement in social development, and highlighting their influence on the future. It is a day to reflect on the achievements and potential of the younger generation and to advocate for their role in shaping a better world.
“Empowering the Future” emphasizes the importance of equipping young people with the skills, opportunities, and resources they need to lead and innovate.
